Tokyo Olympian Hau-Li Fan of the High Performance Centre – Vancouver ranked highest amongst the Canadians, finishing 11th in the men’s 10-km race in 1:51:38.21. Fan placed 17th in the 10-km open water marathon at the 2022 FINA World Championships in June.
Ashley McMillan of Penticton, B.C., captured the silver medal in the women’s 200-m individual medley in 2:13.31 on the final night of the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.
Canada wrapped up the third night of the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships with the team’s second medal of the meet in the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay.
Team Canada faced an additional challenge as heavy rain poured down on the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. Despite the weather-related delays that kicked off the evening session, swimmers demonstrated Canada’s strength in both the individual medley and relay events.
Adam Wu of Surrey, B.C. won Canada’s first medal of the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in the men’s 200-m freestyle Wednesday. Wu dropped just over a second off his previous best time during his prelims swim. He lowered his time by another 2.8 seconds during the men’s A final to reach the podium in 1:48.26. 
Swimmers attending Swimming Canada’s pan-provincial open water camp showcased their adaptability and competitiveness across multiple races at this year’s BEST Fest this week. The team added another 25 medals across the 1,500-metre, 7-kilometre and 10-km distances. The results of the festival’s final open water events added to the team’s previous success in the 5-km event earlier in the week.
After a three-year pause since the last national competition, 87-year-old Mae Waldie of the Pointe-Claire Masters Swim Club competed in five events on the second day of the 2022 Speedo Masters Canadian Swimming Championships. On top of her busy racing schedule, Waldie was awarded the 2022 Swimming Excellence Award. 
Cheers of support echoed through Laval University’s sport complex as Masters swimmers gathered from across the country to compete at the 2022 Speedo Masters Canadian Swimming Championships Friday in Quebec City. After the challenges of COVID-19 over the past two years, the Masters community arrived in force to celebrate perseverance, athleticism and sportsmanship.
Nicholas Bennett planned to use the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games as an opportunity to gain valuable experience. As the youngest member of the Canadian team in Tokyo, Bennett left the Games with four Canadian records and a wealth of unexpected experience.
